And a reminder about the BOMContest.  This month’s book is Blood Bound and if you’d like to win either a copy of BB or one from my backlist, join the discussion here

Since I had a sick bratlet, I didn’t get much writing done this weekend, but I did manage to get some reading done.you_belong_to_me.jpg

First, I finished You Belong To Me by Patricia Sargeant.  I  knew who the bad guy thought I knew who the bad guy was.  And I was sort of right.  But there was another unexpected one.  I like unexpected bad guys~so long as they make sense.  This one definitely did.  I’m a little mad at Patricia thought for what she did to Denise.  Sulk.  FYI… a smallish spoiler below.

YBTM is a great romance.  The heroine and hero have a history together, they’d been married but the heroine got pregnant and miscarried.  The grief and lack of understanding between them put a wedge between them that split them up.  The story starts about four years after that.  I’ll be honest, I almost put the book down a couple of times, but not because it wasn’t good.  The issues on the miscarriage hit a little too close to home for me but I was curious to see how Patricia would resolve the story, so I stayed with it and I’m glad I did.

Then I read Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts.  I made the mistake of watching the movie last week on lifetime before I read the book.  I usually keep up with her books pretty well but the past couple years have been a little chaotic and I’m just now making a dent in my reading mountain.  It was a great book but I kept having the characters from the movie intrude on the characters in the book.  In the book, Bo was a lot more romantic, which is bluesmoke.jpgsaying a lot since he was mooning over a girl he’d only seen a couple of times and never met.  The first actual meeting between Reena and Bo had me grinning.

I think Lifetime did a pretty good job of staying true to the books, all in all.  But I’m glad I’ve already read Carolina Moon.
