Came from Bam’s blog. I couldn’t resist. I love memes.
What is in your refrigerator right now? On your bedroom floor? On your nightstand? In your garbage can?
Hmmmm … wine coolers, antibiotics for the monster’s ear infection, milk, cheese, some chicken breasts thawing out for tomorrow, orange juice, apple juice, nutterbutters, oreos.
Bedroom floor? Probably two pairs of shoes, the pillow the DH’s dog sleeps on, maybe my gym bag?
Why on earth would somebody wanna know what’s in the garbage can…probably a couple of diapers, just the pee ones, though, I use a diaper genie for anything else, some granola bar wrappers, a couple of paper plates, the junk mail that I get bombarded with.
Look at your feet. Describe what you see there. Do you wear dress shoes, gym shoes, or none at all? Are you in socks that are ratty and full of holes? Or are you wearing a pair of blue and gold slippers knitted by your grandmother?
Bare feet, in desperate need of a pedicure. There’s a scar on the top of my right foot, a leftover from a very tom boyish childhood, calluses from karate.
When you think of your childhood kitchen, what smell does she associate with it? Sauerkraut? Oatmeal cookies? Paint? Why is that smell so resonant for you?
Steaks broiling. I dunno why that memory is so clear, but my dad could cook a steak like nobody else. And mom’s strawberry shortcake. I love strawberry shortcake and mom, bless her heart, is allergic to them. But every summer, she made it for me even though it broke her hands out.
You are doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for you to throw out? What is difficult for you to part with? Why?
I can throw out old magazines real easy but the DH doesn’t always like that. ;o) Stuffed animals. I think they replicate in the closets at night. Harder to get rid of…baby clothes. I love baby clothes.
It’s Saturday at noon. What are you doing? If you’re eating breakfast, what exactly do you eat? If you’re stretching out in your backyard to sun, what kind of blanket or towel do you lie on?
Depends on the Saturday. For Christmas, I got my daughter some horse riding lessons, so I’m either sitting in the indoor riding area, which is colder than I dunno what lately, or I’m at home being lazy. Breakfast? Is it still Saturday? If so, I might be eating cold pizza. I’ll grab an old blanket to lay on…whatever I have handy that I’m not worried about ruining.
What is one strong memory that has stuck with you from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
My grandmother waking me up early one morning. She’d come to stay with us while my mom went to Florida… mom’s stepdad had recently died and my dad’s mom was helping out. I was mad at my grandma for some reason.. I don’t know why. I was eight. Whatever eight year old girls get mad about…and I thought she was leaving because I got mad. We found out a week later that she had cancer. She died six months later.
You are getting ready for a night out. Where are you going? What do you wear? Who will you be with?
To dinner or the movies with the DH. Jeans and a black blazer, probably (yeah, I’m the dressy type)
