I read this book ages ago… I think I found this thru Amazon.com when I was trying to find books similiar to LKH’s earlier stuff while I was waiting on Blue Moon to be released. Or maybe it was Obsidian Butterfly…can’t remember.
Anyway, Amazon has the evil suggestion thing…People who enjoyed your previous purchases have also bought this…
I hate that thing. I love that thing. If it wasn’t for those ‘suggestions’ I would have much more money. Well, at least I would if I wouldn’t spend it on things like purses, shoes, movies…etc… But I also love it, because thanks to that, I found Anne Bishop. I love Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels trilogy and it’s one of those books I’ve almost read to pieces.
FYI, this isn’t romance, although it has a wonderful love story. The focus of the book isn’t on a romantic relationship between the H/H. Speaking of heroes, there are actually several. (No, ladies, it’s not a menage). The heroine is Jaenelle, the heroes are Saetan, Lucivar & Daemon.
There are the original three books and a few other books set in the universe. The first one, Daughter of the Blood, is the one I’m running the contest on, because if you haven’t read it…start with the first. It’s fantasy, it is sensual, it does have romance..it’s dark, it’s disturbing and it has some serious baddies in it. Some people you’d like thrown away some place dark and airless. It’s not for the faint of heart~there’s violence, there’s gore, there’s death, there’s abuse. Like I said…disturbing.
It’s also one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read. It’s set in a world that’s totally unreal, yet it feels so real that you think you could reach out and touch the characters. The heroine, you hurt for her, you want to see her win, you want to see her happy, but at the same time, you realize that winning means she can’t be happy. (don’t worry…book 3 ends very nicely).
All in all, the Black Jewels trilogy is one of my faves. If you’re into fantasy and you haven’t read this one, you need to.
As always, to enter for a chance to win an unsigned copy of Daughter of the Blood, all if you have to do is comment. If you’ve read it, let me know what you think as well!
