Guest Blog… by Cindy

(editor note from Shi**Cindy kindly agreed to help me out in my hour of need when I called for guest bloggers.  My eternal thanks, Cindy! And onto her post… )

Not too long ago I ran across an online discussion about how/if the internet has affected your reading. Before internet I relied on blurbs in the back of other books, word of mouth and just perusing the selection of books at the library for new authors/books to read. And with looking for new-to-me authors and books that way, my TBB list was long, but manageable. When I got internet that changed drastically for me. My TBB list now? Yeah, it’s unreal and out of control. LOL But I think I like that because with a list like mine there is no way I’ll ever run out of books to look for and try. On the other hand… I’m not sure I’ll get through my list before I die. LOLEbooks. I’d never read an ebook until I started reviewing (for the first time ever). I’ve had the pleasure to read some incredible stories that are e-published and meet some incredible authors…all because I tried that first ebook.

Another thing I’ve wondered about (and yes, I know it has been brought up before as well) is the accessibility of authors. With email, yahoo loops, message boards and now blogs, are authors accessible enough for readers? Too much so? Where do we draw the line? I mean, I love the fact that I can chat with my favorite authors on yahoo loops or message boards or in live chats, email back and forth with them or guest blog for them ( 😉 ), but even if I couldn’t do all of this ( i.e., the author does NONE of these things), it wouldn’t affect whether or not I buy their books. Does this affect whether or not you buy/read a book by authors?
