I actually did some serious reading this month. Well, for me….
In June, I read like five books…okay, actually, I read all of those this past week. All the books were good, but none were blow my socks great so instead of using one of them for the BOMContest, I’m doing an old fave.
Anybody that knows much about my reading preferences know that I have a couple of authors that I adore. I’d almost even go fangirl on them. And I don’t do fangirl.
SL Viehl is one of the few authors that could push me to go fangirl. The first book of hers that I read was Stardoc. Now this is sci fi, but before all of you romance readers pull back and shudder, relax. There’s romance in the book.
Very well done romance.
This is a series, too, so instead of falling in love with a couple and then never seeing them after the HEA, you get to spend a lot of time with them. Almost Roarke and Eve-ish. But the hero in this is even scarier than Roarke. Duncan Reever.
If I had to go into a dark alley that was lined with thugs, rapists, murderers and politicians, I’d pick Duncan Reever over Roarke. So come on, you romance junkies, if you haven’t given the Stardoc series a chance, you need to.
The heroine Cherijo is hhmmmm… I don’t want to use the word fiesty. I don’t really like it. Cherijo is unique. She’s stubborn, she’s smart, she’s strong, she’s funny.
The world building is phenomenal.
The stories will pull at your heartstrings, it will make you laugh, it will make you want to beat SL Viehl over the head for the things she does to her characters , it will have you panting and salivating for the next one in the series, just because you have to know how she’s going to get these people out of that mess.
As always, the way to win the book is join in on the discussion. FYI, I count DISCUSSION as something like, Hey, I read that book and I loved this about it or that… or a comment like, I don’t normally read sci fi because…. You can offer suggestions for me or other bloggers, books you’ve read and loved, etc etc. But I’d love to win this isn’t really discussing.
If you’ve already read Stardoc but you have something to contribute, fire away. We can work out another prize. Winner will be drawn at the end of July.
