Too exhausted to make sense.
This was my first full RT. In 2005 (I think) I only did the bookfair. So this was a whole new experience. And oye…what an experience. My brain is still spinning.
I got to meet some very cool people. To name a few:
- Ann Aguirre (I stalked her until I found her)
- R. Garland Gray (very sweet lady)
- Joy (of Joyfully Reviewed fame-she’s not as scary as I thought she’d be… *G* smoochies, Joy. Known her for years, first time meeting her.)
- Rosemary and a bunch of other very cool ladies for Australia-some awesome booksellers.
- Jaynie R. (known her for…uh…years? first time meeting her, too)
- Sarah of Smart Bitches (I kept looking for her horns, I told her that I keep hearing she’s so evil, so I figured there must be horns. She said she saved her fire-breathing for special occasions but it’s an exhausting talent)
- the infamous Dakota Cassidy. (Need I say more?)
- Heather Osborn, editor for Tor (we stayed up talking with her and some other people and when we left, my husband looks at me and says, Man, that Heather chick is hilarious. And she is.)
- Anne Elizabeth (the corset…oh, man, the corset. I’m still in awe)
- Jade Lee (her energy. I want)
- a bunch and bunch of readers. It was fun meeting all of them, but there are a few that really stand out. One in particular was a sweetie by the name of Morgan who hails from Michigan. I loved meeting her and her hubby (and oh, he was a sweetheart, too. Not too many women have a guy who will willingly go to something like this. He didn’t just go with her, he was out scoping books and authors for her)
There were a TON of others, but my brain is so exhausted and I’m only remembering bits and pieces.
Also got to catch up with friends, Lora Leigh, 1/2 of the Ashleigh Raine duo, Angela Knight, briefly (very briefly) chatted with Christine Feehan, Rhyannon Byrd, Patrice Michelle … beyond that, I’m going to have to wait until my brain catches up.
RT was definitely fun, for the most part. The really sucky thing was the hotel and the renovations. The renovated rooms were gorgeous. But half the hotel was undergoing remodeling (I’m not joking) and all the funk in the air has me sicker than a dog, but it’s not illness-as-in-cold/flu/contagious sick. It’s airborn- pollutants-like-mold-dust-plaster-and-who-knows-what-else-kind-of-sick…. sigh.
I’ll try to post more here when my brain catches up.
