So one of the ways to help inform aspiring writers about the problems with vanity presses, ‘assisted self publishing’, etc is to get the word out.
One way to get the word out is get the info higher up on the search engines…right?
So maybe those of who have talked about the pitfalls should link to each other. Those who have interested in the discussion could also link to the posts. That’s how search engines work, right? the more links to a site, the more hits, the higher it moves on search engines…yes?
Thoughts?
Updated with links. I’m posting the links for the various discussions I’ve seen online…some I’ve kept up, some I haven’t. I’m posting the links for informational purposes-I haven’t read every single last comment, but most of these provide some insight into why a lot of authors aren’t too keen on the idea.
(If you know of any articles about the HHz/Dellarte Press/Author Solutions discussion, please feel free to post the link in comments. (don’t worry if it doesn’t appear-my comments are moderated if more than one link is posted to keep out spam out-I’ll clear them through. Also, if you want to copy this list and post it to your own blog, feel free. The more, the merrier.)
