Avon & Harlequin have pulled out as sponsors.
I bet more will follow.
50+ agents have publicly stated they’ll have nothing to do with nationals or other events.
The RITAs (rightly) are in the tank this year & the whole conference may well follow, because if more sponsors pull out…well, that means no signings, no parties, etc.
The signings & events for librarians & bloggers are a major draw and THAT will go down the tank.
Pub parties are a big draw for pubbed authors, and THAT is disappearing.
So. Again…do y’all really think this is going to blow over?
It’s time for you, the board members, to step up.
YOU, RIGHT NOW, HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO VOTE DAMON SUEDE OUT.
By all rights, it appears he doesn’t meet the qualifications TO BE OUR PRESIDENT, HAVING ONLY FOUR PUBBED NOVELS.
He has acted RECKLESSLY, failed to respond to member concerns & been shown to have a history of LYING ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER INDUSTRY PEOPLE AND RWA MEMBERS TO FURTHER HIS OWN AGENDA.
These actions & lack of publishing qualifications give you EVERY right to vote him out & correct the course.
Note, it WILL BE CORRECTED, but what side will you take & how much worse will RWA continue to look to outside eyes?
We will not get agents back at our conference WITHOUT ACTION.
WE WILL NOT GET PUBLISHERS BACK WITHOUT IT.
Workshop proposals are being withdrawn, so there’s ANOTHER draw that’s going, going…gone!
This will NOT blow over. Do the right thing for RWA, THE ONE THING THAT WILL ALLOW US TO START WINNING BACK TRUST FROM THE INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS WHO HAVE PULLED BACK BECAUSE OF YOUR CLEAR LACK OF ACTION. VOTE THE PRESIDENT OUT, AND the executive director.
